International terrorism is a huge problem. We believe that more needs to be done to combat it, including; education and other efforts to stem fanatical anti-Western Islamic extremism, improving our immigration policies and enforcement, and securing our ports, improving our standing in the world by using conciliatory diplomacy while pursuing terrorism aggressively (evidence that we have done the opposite), securing unsecured fissile materials and WMD capable biological materials, and doing all we can to aggressively eliminate the al-Qaeda network and related terrorist cells.

Given the increasing ubiquity of WMD capable materials, and the perhaps still underestimated potential for site specific devastation in this country, this presents a grave challenge. But to compare fighting a small bunch of rogue international cultural psychopaths -- largely a matter of information, education, intelligence, diplomany, and critical special forces -- to the global military conflagration during WWII where three of the world's largest military powers fought for complete world dominion and control, and our "greatest generation" literally saved the globe from largely totalitarian rule, seems extremely misplaced. President Bush, echoing sentiments expressed by others, reportedly stated with respect to the heroic efforts of those aboard United Flight 93: "I believe that. I believe that it was the first counter-attack to World War III." It is a chilling belief. It also sends the completely wrong signal to the rest of the world, from the President of the most powerful nation on earth.
